A Digital-Free Zone on the Shores of Lake Saimaa
Our Cottage Village is a place where time stands still. Five small forest cottages, built in 1970, are nestled on a rocky slope, each providing its own private peace. Here, the lack of electricity is not a shortage—it is an opportunity to experience true silence and a slower pace of life.
The Experience: Every cottage offers a stunning lake view of the Saimaa archipelago. Small forest paths lead you to your doorstep, and you can even arrive by boat.
Facilities: Each compact 9 m² cottage features a pre-made 140 cm wide sofa bed and a small kitchenette with a gas stove. Cottages are equipped with their own traditional outdoor eco-toilets (outhouses).
Breakfast & Sauna: Your stay includes a delicious breakfast basket delivered to your terrace every morning (8:00–10:00 AM) and a private daily session in our wood-heated sauna.
Farmhouse Atmosphere and Peaceful Dreams
The five double rooms of The Bird’s Nest (Linnunpesä) are located on the upper floor of our home, the historic main farmhouse built in 1960. The Bird’s Nest is a warm-hearted retreat where the rustic feel of a farmhouse meets the proximity of Lake Saimaa.
Rooms: Cosily decorated rooms with views overlooking either Lake Naistenvessi or across the tranquil fields toward the forest.
Facilities: Guests have access to a shared bathroom and toilet. The summer kitchen in the courtyard is free for guests to use and is where our tasty breakfast is served. A new shared guest kitchen will be completed on the upper floor by summer 2026.
Location: An ideal stop for cyclists and hikers! We are located just 2.5 km from the Puumala Archipelago Route and approximately 7 km from the famous Saimaa Seal Trail (Norppapolku).
As your hosts, Maria and Olli, we welcome you with open hearts. Our family includes two energetic young girls, a cat, and a dog, so you will experience authentic farmhouse life and warm hospitality.
Tranquility: We kindly ask all our guests to respect the silence and peace of Metsäsydän.
Allergies: Please note that we have pets living in the main house, so these rooms are not suitable for those with severe animal allergies.
